Broadway Shows are a Must See When Visiting NYC

NYC is a hub for theatrical entertainment. One of the best ways to experience all that live theater has to offer is to take in one of the many Broadway Shows Playing New York NYC. Broadway is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan in the theater district. It is here that many actors get their starts while performing in some of the best productions in the industry. Currently, some of the more popular shows to see include Hamilton, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, and School of Rock – The Musical.

Hamilton

Hamilton can be seen at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. It’s a vibrant show that tells a different side of one of the founding fathers of America. The story is about the ambitious and determined young Alexander Hamilton and his journey through the American Revolution. It’s a hip-hop musical that keeps the audience captivated throughout.

The Lion King

The Lion King is a musical that tells the story of Simba, a young lion prince living in the Pride Lands of Africa. The musical is an adaptation of the 1994 Disney animated movie that shares the same name. It begins with the young Simba escaping after his father is killed and takes him along his journey to return to his homeland and reclaim it from his evil uncle Scar. The show has been running since 1997 and can currently be seen at the Minskoff Theatre.

The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon is a comedy about two missionaries who are sent to teach in a village that is located in a remote part of Uganda. Life in Uganda is a far cry from life in Salt Lake City, Utah. The show explores the challenges of trying to share the scriptures with people who live a completely different lifestyle from their own. It’s both heartwarming and hysterical at times. This show is playing at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

School of Rock – The Musical

School of Rock – the Musical is a fun and lighthearted adaptation of a popular film. It’s playing at the Winter Garden Theatre and tells the story of a Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who poses as a substitute teacher and uses his fifth-grade students to try to fulfill his dream.

No matter which Broadway production one chooses to see, the experience will be rewarding. Broadway shows are always captivating!
